Booking on a Club Trip
Our club is about going diving. The idea of the club is get people diving as much as possible. To keep things as safe as possible, any club member wishing to participate in club trips must meet the minimum requirements:
*Full Membership of Roho Dive Club
*Signed Liability and Medical Release
*At least 20 logged dives (one of which must be within 2 months)
*Experience of dry suit diving
*Knowledge and experience of SMB use and deployment techniques
*Complete familiarity with their own computer or dive tables/wheel.
How to Book.
The planned dives are on the web (See Dive Calendar UK) and on the year planner in the club room on the noticeboard at Robin Hood, with the name & phone number of the club trip secretary.
Booking a Trip
Club Trips are opened at the END of the Thursday club meeting as advertised. The trip secretary has the FINAL decision as to how a trip is organised.
On the night that a trip opens, you need to "apply" in person (and pay in full) for your individual place. You can apply on behalf of another person with their name and full payment.
If the trip is over-subscribed at the meeting; Names are then drawn out of a hat, and placed on the trip sheet. Names are drawn until the trip is full. Names are then placed in order on the reserve list until all names are drawn. You will then get confirmation of where your name is placed for that trip. Reserve divers always have preference should you wish to sell your place.
The only person guaranteed to be on any trip is the trip secretary and their buddy. You ONLY have a chance of a place when you have paid in full. Your booking is completed when you sign the booking sheet to confirm that you understand and meet the requirements for diving.
After the trip is open:
Ring the trip secretary to book your place.
You must pay the full cost of the trip to the trip secretary.
PLEASE NOTE: Trips for 2010 will be open for booking & paying 3 months prior to each trip and the full amount will be payable for each person at the time of booking, unless otherwise stated.
If you find that you are unable to participate in a trip which you have booked and paid for, AND there is no one on the reserve list, it is YOUR responsibility to find a replacement.
Guidelines for Boat Diving
1. Be Prepared. Your basic diving equipment should be assembled before putting it on the boat. Your cylinder should be fitted to your BCD and your Regulators should be fitted to the cylinder. The cylinder should have been turned on to check that it is full and then turned back off to avoid accidental leakage. It is also a good idea to buy an elastic bungee strap (roof rack strap} to hold your equipment together and keep it tidy.
2. You should have 1 boat bag per person. This is for your dive equipment. mask, fins, torch, SMB, reel, gloves, hood, small dry box and any other equipment needed for diving.
3. Dress for diving. You should normally have your undersuit on and the bottom half of your dry suit. In warm weather you may wish to leave your dry suit off. This should be carried onto the boat without a bag and placed in a safe dry place. (when Rib diving you must put your dry suit on before getting on the boat)
4. Help at all times. Boat Diving is a team effort. We always help each other with loading / unloading. MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK. There is always something that can be picked up, moved, or passed !
5. Have a good time. Doing all of the above should achieve this and help to make boat diving easier. You can have too much dive kit on a boat and this will only add to the hardship and awkwardness of boat diving. Once again help each other at all times.

Flying After Diving Recommendations
Divers must allow a suitable interval following diving before flying. Most decompression tables and dive computers will include procedures to deal with this concern. If in doubt, use the following guidelines.
The 2002 Consensus Guidelines for Flying After Recreational Diving.
The following guidelines are the consensus of the attendees at the 2002 Flying After Diving workshop. They apply to air dives followed by flights at cabin altitudes of 2,000 - 8,000 feet for divers who do not have symptoms of decompression sickness (DCS).
The recommended preflight surface intervals do not guarantee avoidance of DCS. Longer surface intervals will reduce DCS risk further.
For a single no-decompression dive, a minimum preflight surface interval of 12 hours is suggested.
For multiple dives per day or multiple days of diving a minimum preflight surface interval of 18 hours is suggested.
For dives requiring decompression stops, there is little evidence on which to base a recommendation, and a preflight surface interval substantially longer than 18 hours appears prudent.
Basic Club Rules
Our club exists as a place to meet like minded people whose company you enjoy and as a group, make it easier to book Skippers, Accommodation, Liveaboards etc. We welcome new divers, and aim to provide opportunities for all members to go diving in a safe and enjoyable manner.
The philosophy of the club has always been to not get bogged down in unnecessary red tape. However, we have the Club Rules document which outlines the basic club rules...Click on the Club Rules Link on this page
